  • I have had good but a lot of bad. I been breeding the bully's for year and old school lines for years. The old school breeders seem to be trust worthy and stand behind their breeding's they do. Now in the bully world a lot of people don't do that! then when issues come up they hide! I think a lot of people need to learn respect , to back up there dogs and most of all stop making it a game. Breeding is not a game and we should stand together not think our dogs we have are the best. A real breeder will know the faults of our dogs and always try to better there dogs even if that means breeding to a dog that another person has we don't care for. When it comes down to it it is about the breed not money, pride or anything like that. I do like that now we are pulling a way from the old school lines and making them where the fighters don't want them. Every breed changes over time and things are added in to better the breed but there's a time when we need to quite adding stuff. I am not a hater I have them all from a 13" pocket to XL . I even have a so called freak'(fixed) . But the day when a dog can not walk or dies at 3yrs old because of defects is when we are killing the breed. We need to work together and help each other out even if that means taking the time to teach some one. The old school breeders fallowed a breeder for 3 plus years before they would start breeding their own.No old school breeder would just give a pup to some one or even say this is pup is going to make a great breeder or that it is show quality . Only time will show that. A lot of the bully breeders will tell people that and even say " you will make your money back with this fire" but a real breeder never makes makes money and does not want his lines breed just to be breed. So I help when needed but do my own thing because I want no part of most the kennels that are around .

  • read the ukc standards for an apbt. every bully registered to the ukc is a default.

I come from another registry AKC and the bully community I find on majority to be very unprofessional, full of lies and fighting . Full of people who have no basic knowledge on genetics, standards or ability to read the standard and evaluate there own dogs. Alot of kennel blindness. I hear alot of fighting over hanging papers, mix breeding ect but at the same time these dogs that are obvious mixes are at the top of the list for studs wanted, they are placing in the ring. Breeds always evolve to what is wanted in the show ring just look at the history with the EB , shephards, and all the other big show dogs here. If people want to have the mixing stop it should start in the show ring, basic knowledge of genetics will tell you what is an EB or frenchy trait in some of these dogs not hard to see.

The same time I have seen good though and things I do like. I love how laid back this registry is I found AKC to be full of snobs and people who were so competitive they would never help anyone outside of there small clique. Im newer then some to this breed and when asked for help or advice I have had nothing but positive experiences from those I have turned too.  I do see some gorgeous dogs and breeders who do know there stuff producing some exceptional litters. Just think you really need to do your research when looking for a breeder in this breed Id say 80% I would not buy from or trust as far as I could throw them. The ones that are truely in this for the dogs are the ones that need to be held as the example for this breed vs how it is right now, the ones doing it for the money and fame are in the spot light I find.

I did a apbt breeding about 10 years ago using rascal and jeep blood and i got a 13 inch female out of that litter. it's not impossible. i also remember a friend of mine had a male(colby blood) that was about 15 inches with a 23.5 inch head and a lil girth. i've beed breeding dogs for over 20 yrs and it happens but not that often.

  • I am new to the bully breed. I have a lot of love for these dogs. Wife even says sometimes I spend more time with my dogs than my kids. I search for knowledge for breeding this breed. What I have put together 90% of the people breeding is in it just for the money. They don't produce high quality, healthy, show quality dogs. I have researched and researched for what is the healthiest structure class of the breed. Seems that everyone that is getting into breeding is not holding this to be the one most important thing to do before breeding. These 90lb dogs with 3 inch legs needs to stop. This is causing so much pain for these dogs when they get to adult. I'm not hating, I'm caring for the dogs. All the registries need to up the standards and cut off papering to these none knowing breeders. There should be a judge or rep in every state that has knowledge of what is right to the "Standard". Anyone that wants to register their dogs should have to go and get their dogs checked out to make sure they meet the standard. In addition they should require a veterinary check and certification for hips, heart, breathing and etc..... Any pups produced that don't meet and pass these certs should automatically be required to be spade or neutered and be sold as pets only. This is what the real breeders in AKC do. This would stop all the butt hurt egotistical people from breeding genetically screwed up dogs. This I believe would clean up the breed and tighten the quality of the gene pool tremendously. I also don't agree with there being 4-5 classes of one breed. This opens up to many windows for hanging papers. There's not 4-5 different sizes of a Great Dane! There is only one way to breed a bully to a full grown height of 12-14 inches and that's by throwing in an English Bulldog. It is not possible to breed an Am Staff and a Pit-bull together and get a 12-14 inch dog! I love registries and what they stand for but the rules need to be enforced more. People that have the GOOD knowledge of how to breed need to step up and educate people to pass the knowledge to the next generation to be able to breed correct! This being able to register anything without a rep or judge personally checking the litter or pups, is what is killing the breed. Sucks that you have to be that strict. But we have to do what we have to do...right?!?!

    • wow u nailed it on the head

  • It seems like most of the bully world consist of kids. People are not like they use to be at least the people my age. It seems like no one has respect for each other and everybody is trying to be so gangster. It makes me laugh when I am talking to someone and they use nothing but slang words. I do not know if it is just ignorance or idiots. However on a positive note, the bully world you will always get good and bad. I try to focus on all the positive experience, that is what keeps me going.
